PESHAWAR: Unidentified assailants on Thursday gunned down a policeman in Parda Bagh area of the provincial capital. Police and rescue sources said police constable Rahman Ali, a resident of Swabi, was on duty in the precincts of Faqirabad Police Station when armed assailants riding a motorcycle opened fire on him. He sustained several bullets on chest and head region. He was rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital but succumbed to injuries. Later, the dead body was sent for an autopsy. Police launched a search operation in the area and started investigation. Police registered an FIR against unidentified target killers under the Counter Terrorism Act. Target killing is not new to the city as earlier to this incident, an in-charge of a polio team and a doctor in Hayatabad were targeted by militants.
