Tunisian envoy hopeful of better ties with Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Tunisian Ambassador to Pakistan Adel Elarbi has expressed hope that bilateral ties with Pakistan will be strengthened in coming days.

The envoy made these remarks on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Tunisia here on Monday. Federal minister for inter-provincial coordination was the chief gust on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, the envoy said, "The commemoration of the day provides us an opportunity to celebrate the day with immense enthusiasm as well as to reflect upon the outstanding achievements made by Tunisian people over the past six years."

He added, "It is an auspicious day for all Tunisians to pay tribute and respect to those [Tunisians], who had sacrificed their lives to gain freedom for our country. We salute all our national heroes and leaders who guided us from confinement to freedom and contributed to build institutions of a modern state."
He also thanked all people and governments who supported the Tunisian cause and backed its struggle for freedom and independence.
