BANNU: The lawyers’ fraternity on Thursday announced a boycott of the leading cases of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) in protest against 16 to 20 hours long power breakdowns in the district. The protest organised by the District Bar Association was attended by a large number of lawyers. They chanted slogans against WAPDA and demanded of the government to restore uninterrupted power supply in the district. District Bar Association President Waseem Khan and others including Pirzada Dilfaraz, Taj Muhammad, Umar Zada abd Nisar Khan spoke on the occasion. They also appealed to the legal advisers of WAPDA to support the district bar association in the protest. They accused the WAPDA officials of carrying out unjustified load-shedding of 20 hours despite the fact that line losses in the district were low and the billing recovery was high. They said that they would register cases against WAPDA if the power supply was not restored. Meanwhile, enraged people of Soorani tribe took to roads and blocked the Bannu-Kohat Road for all kinds of traffic. They complained of over 20 hours load-shedding on a daily basis. Separately, villagers in Ghoriwala sub division threatened to attack the grid station if uninterrupted power supply was not restored.
