KARACHI – A suspected Al Qaeda member who had planned to attack Nine Zero turned out to be a former activist of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM). According to a private TV channel, arrested suspect Syed Mohommad Murtaza made important revelations during the course of his interrogation. He was arrested by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). Murtaza disclosed that he had held the position of unit in-charge of the MQM’s student organisation All Pakistan Muttahida Quami Movement Adamjee Science College. He was also an activist of APMSO Nazimabad unit 174 and a sector member of APMSO’s Sector F. Afterwards, he left MQM to join Al Qaeda’s subcontinent chapter. For Al Qaeda’s subcontinent chapter, Murtaza revealed he had stalked the MQM members and had also planned to target the MQM headquarters Nine Zero in an attack. Murtaza also disclosed that he had taken part in a plan to kill the workers of MQM.
