ISLAMABAD – Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs Senator Ishaq Dar on Wednesday met World Bank (WB) Vice-President Annette Dixon on the sidelines of the ADB’s annual board of governors meeting in Frankfurt, Germany. He was accompanied by Economic Affairs Division (EAD) Secretary Tariq Bajwa and other delegation members from Pakistan, said a statement received here. The minister appreciated support from the World Bank in the priority sectors of development in Pakistan. He said that present government has initiated different macroeconomic reforms which have produced positive results for the country. He also informed the World Bank vice president about progress of reform initiatives in different sectors especially in the areas of energy and economic growth. Dixon appreciated the performance of Pakistan’s economy during the recent years. She also thanked the Government of Pakistan for its contribution to IDA sources. She said that progress on co-financing with Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) for Tarbela-V is on track. She also informed that World Bank’s collaboration with ADB on Energy Sector Reform Programme has been very effective. The minister also apprised the World Bank delegation about progress of the country’s program with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and stated that it was on track and would be completed successfully.
