KARACHI – Senior leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Dr Farooq Sattar’s coordinator Aftab Hussain died in hospital a day after he was produced in a court by the rangers. Speaking to journalists, Sindh Assembly member Khawaja Izharul Hassan pointed out Aftab’s death under custody, demanding a medical board be constituted to thoroughly investigate the death of the party worker. According to the media reports, Aftab Hussain, who was taken into custody from Federal B Area of Karachi on Sunday, was shifted to the Jinnah Hospital at around 8am where doctors pronounced him dead after 20 minutes. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities. In a tweet, MQM leader Wasay Jalil stated that Dr Sttar’s coordinator died in the custody of the paramilitary force. He was also presented before a judge of the anti-terrorism court along with seven other suspects. Rangers had informed the judge about 90-day detention of seven suspects, including the coordinator.
