ISLAMABAD – The European Union (EU) ambassadors in Pakistan will visit universities across Pakistan to celebrate the upcoming Europe Day in a unique way that falls on May 9. The ambassadors and diplomats from EU member states will inform the students and faculty about the EU, its bilateral relations with Pakistan as well as the country they are representing, a press release issued here Tuesday said.They will lecture at public as well as private universities in different cities including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad, Peshawar and Charsadda. Whereas Haripur, Rawalakot and Quetta are also the expected venues. In a statement, EU Ambassador to Pakistan Jean-Francois Cautain said that “Europe Day is an opportunity to take stock of the relationship between the EU and Pakistan.” “In many respects, the EU and Pakistan are bound together by a shared history and by common goals and shared values. Many Pakistanis have found a home in Europe and are valued members of our societies.” “We are committed to the pursuit of democracy, economic development and peace,”the ambassador said, adding that the event “EU Ambassadors back to Universities” will be an excellent opportunity to exchange views with the Pakistani youth in the EU, Pakistan and global issues.
