SUKKUR – Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Marvi Memon has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed to register all poor and needy women with the BISP in order to make them beneficiary of the programme and to eliminate poverty. Talking to office bearers of the Pakistan Muslim League-N Sukkur chapter here on Tuesday, she said that the government believes in reaching to the doorsteps of the masses as it is a sacred responsibility to serve the people. The E-Commerce programme had also been initiated for financial empowerment of the BISP beneficiaries and through the system, products of beneficiaries would be available online which would also be recognised internationally, she said. She said that BISP holds 5.2 million beneficiaries in the country which are divided into 45,000 BISP Beneficiary Committees (BBC). She pointed out that various programmes have been launched under BISP to bring down the poverty level and alleviate socio-economic conditions of the people. She said that government was endeavoring to help out needy and the prime minister has issued directives to further increase the ambit of “Waseela-e-Taleem Programme”.
