KARACHI: The first day of the coveted QMobile Hum Bridal Couture Week 2017 was held on Friday at a local hotel with the who’s who of the fashion, showbiz and entertainment industry in attendance to lend their support to the prestigious platform. A total of eight designers showcased their unique collections. Yasmin Zaman Yasmin Zaman’s collection was set in pink and orange colour palette, as well as parrot green shades. Flare shirts with tunng pyjamas, angrakhas and shararas were the key highlights of her collection. Anoushay Ashraf showstopped for Yasmin, wearing a tea pink angrakha. Amir Adnan Amir Adnan opened Day 1 with a collection that consisted of cool summery shades for waistcoats and sherwanis. Aqua, peach, silver and peacock colours were used for womenswear with Anarkali dresses, saris, lehnga choli and straight gowns. Naushad Imdad Naushad Imdad closed Act 1 with his collection titled Eminence. Fun, quirky and suave menswear was on display. Shahroz Sabzwari showstopped for the designer wearing a magenta and black tuxedo. Arsalan Iqbal Arsalan Iqbal opened Act 2 with his collection consisting of soft coloured menswear sherwanis, short coats, straight beige pants, long turbans, white shalwar kamiz with waist coats, and minimal embroidery. The collection stood out for its simplicity, a unique choice of colour palette and perfect fittings. Floral sherwani coats paired with plain pants will set trends. Actor Ali Kazmi showstopped for the designer, wearing an off white sherwani. Rizwan Ahmed Next up was Rizwan Ahmed with his collection titled Sunehri. A unique colour palette of pixie metallics and silver was used with neon contrasts. Gogi by Hassan Riaz QMobile Star – Gogi by Hassan Riaz took us back to Rumi’s era, depicting beauty, traditions, culture and soul. Actress Noor Bukhari showstopped for the designer, wearing a heavily embroidered red and gold knee-length shirt paired with sharara and cotton and net red duppata with heavyset borders. Net and gota separates stood out in Hassan’s collection. We loved the rich colour palette with gold contrasts. Full marks for Vaneeza Ahmed who donned the choreographer’s cap this time for BCW. There were some menswear too – blue shalwar kurta for men with minimal embroidery. Ayesha Farid Impules by Ayesha Farid was next with a showcase that was star-studded with the likes of Sana Fakhar, Qasimyar Tiwana, Aiza Khan and Danish Taimur dressed to perfection. HSY HSY closed Day 1 with his collection rich in chiffon, net, tissue, organza and lots of layering. The collection was titled 1909, and consisted of textures, surface embellishments, colours and hues designed for the woman of today. We loved the rich colour palette, loose short kurtas, chiffon ghararas and for menswear, the statement beige and gold sherwanis. Bilal Ashraf showstopped for the designer.
