LAHORE: Bon appétit! Nestled in the heart of the very commercial Phase 5 of DHA, City Café & Grill is a two-storied restaurant, which has been in existence for a while now but has picked up its marketing game only but recently. We headed over to the famous fast-food, Thai and Chinese joint only to be amazed by the comprehensiveness of the menu that came our way. From the aforementioned cuisines, we found ourselves spoilt for choice as all these had their independent varieties of drinks, appetisers, soups, main courses, desserts and even sides! So, for foodies, a menu like that is nothing less than a culinary Paradise. You can order the appetisers from one cuisine, and the soup from the other. Sides from one and desserts from the completely different one! It’s like I said, it’s a foodies’ Paradise. We ordered cream of chicken and tom yam goong from the soups section, chicken strips and prawn tempura as appetisers, along with freshly-squeezed orange juice as our refreshers. For main course, we went for chicken cheese burgers and chicken parmesan steak. We couldn’t have thought of a better way to end our food nirvana journey than to order chocolate molten lava cake as dessert. One serving is enough for two people! STRENGTHS – City Café & Grill has picked up immensely over the last one month. There are a lot of reasons for this. Like we mentioned earlier, their menu is quite comprehensive and gives the customer a lot of options to choose from. Indeed, a menu like that ropes in people of different tastes and preferences, under one roof, without them having to opt for different places to eat. Secondly, the restaurant has very cosy and comfortable premises. We were drawn in by the stunning interior of both the ground and the first floor. It’s neat and appropriately spaced. City Café & Grill has its game at the crest with seafood and desserts. From their prawn tempuras to the tom yam goong soup, the taste is rich, the crispiness is top class, and it’s well done. The soup was served with fish crackers and we would like to especially mention here how we two people ended up devouring all of the crackers in less than 15 minutes, as they were pearly white, crispy and rich in a little salty taste. Anyone wanting to try out quality seafood in Lahore before the actual summer reigns in, City Café & Grill is your go-to. The desserts are second to nobody else’s. The chocolate molten lava cake is moist and chocolaty with just the right amount of vanilla ice cream side we would need. We would especially mention the mint margarita served there. It’s refreshing and tangy, and we couldn’t get enough of it. The staff of the restaurant is extremely warm and accommodating. We ran a little late for our dinner date and found out the restaurant closes at 12am sharp. However, we found ourselves seated and treated even at 12:35am! Indeed, a place that makes guests. No matter how many times, you change your mind about food, right after ordering, you’ll find the staff accommodating you always, without a scowl, shrug or rolling eyes, we so often see elsewhere. The first floor is perfect for holding private birthday parties, large get-togethers or formal dinners. WEAKNESSES – City Café & Grill needs to ensure everything on the menu is available at all times. The beverages are definitely not the strongest point of the restaurant that needs to further its game when it comes to freshly-squeezed juices. Chicken cheese strips we found to be a little bland for our taste.
