Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan who were last seen together on the big screen in ‘Piku’ are collaborating once again for Vishal Bhardwaj’s production, which will be directed by Honey Trehan. The story of the film is said to be based on journalist S Hussain Zaidi’s novel titled Mafia Queens Of Mumbai. S Hussain Zaidi is an Indian author and former investigative journalist. His works include Dongri to Dubai – Six Decades of the Mumbai Mafia, Mafia Queens of Mumbai, Black Friday, My Name is Abu Salem and Mumbai Avengers. Deepika Padukone will be seen essaying the role of gangster Rahima Khan and the film is reportedly said to release on October 2, 2018. The tale of Rahima Khan, popularly known as Sapna Didi revolves around how she plots to kill underworld don Dawood Ibrahim who is responsible for her husband’s death. Rahima shows the courage and valour to face the danger only to succumb at the hands on the underworld don when he gets to know her plans. Currently, Padukone is busy shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s periodic drama ‘Padmavati’ with her alleged boyfriend Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor. While Irrfan Khan, on the other hand, is busy with ‘Doob – No Bed Of Roses’, which is written and directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki. Published in Daily Times, July 25th , 2017.
