Along with legends like Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams and Merle Haggard, Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Greatest Country Artists of All Time includes a number of contemporary singers. Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley and Toby Keith are among today’s artists making the cut. Miranda Lambert is also on the list, coming in way up high at Number 33, with Shania Twain, on her way to a comeback, at Number 25. Garth Brooks is the most contemporary name on the survey – he ranks at Number 10. While 100 artists is a lengthy list, there isn’t room for everyone. Rolling Stone ruled out a number of traditionally country artists: songwriters Hank Cochran and Harlan Howard, guitarist Chet Atkins, Ray Charles and even Elvis Presley were excluded. See the full list in the link above. Miranda Leigh Lambert is an American country music singer and songwriter.
