Pakistani top chef Mohsin Randhawa won a gold medal and four silver medals during the 15th International Istanbul Gastronomy Festival, which was held between February 2-5 in Istanbul, Turkey. More than 30 countries took part in the festival. Mohsin Randhawa was a part of Pakistan’s National Culinary Team, under the employment of Park Lane Hotel. The objective of the competition in International Istanbul Gastronomy Festival is to provide channels between Turkish culinary cultures and other foreign culinary cultures. Turkish chefs and world-class chefs share in the exciting display and exchange knowledge that takes place in this competition. After the membership of Cooks & Chefs Federation of Turkey was accepted in 2008 by WACS, the 15th festival became an important festival as an international event. The successful participants who provided to showcase their culinary skills, under the standards of the World Association of Chefs Societies got medals and also certificates that are valid all around the world. Culinary professionals came together for the 15th time at Tuyap Beylikdüzü, Istanbul, Turkey. Judges were briefed to mark up competitors who, in their opinion, showed the maximum number of craft skills in producing their dishes. It was in the competitor’s interest to complete as many tasks, including butchery and filleting of fish, in the time allocated for that class. The jury and awards committee acknowledged that some mis-en-place was required.
