UNITED KINGDOM: BBC is investigating whether Russian hackers had leaked the final episode of Sherlock online. Sherlock’s season four finale, titled ‘His final problem’ was illegally uploaded on the internet on Sunday. The leaked version of the 90-minute episode was Russian dubbed. BBC informed that they are inquiring the leak, tweeting, “We are aware that Sherlock episode 3 has been uploaded illegally online. If you come across it, please do not share it.” The show’s producer, Sue Vertue, confirmed that the leak had come from Russia. “Russian version of Sherlock’s finale has been illegally uploaded. Please don’t share it. You’ve done so well keeping it spoiler free. Nearly there,” she tweeted. According to sources, the cyber-attack could have political motives, “The Kremlin is thought to have been angered by a recent decision to expand the BBC World Service’s Russian language output.” If this is proven to be accurate then it is due to the current cyber war between Russia and the West, following the hacking by Russians. Preview screening of the series finale was held for journalist and the television critics in London last Thursday. The show is based on the novels by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock and Martin Freeman as his sidekick Dr. John Watson.
