NEW YORK: ’Famous’ song singer Kayne West turned the tables by letting Somali-American model on New York Catwalk to hit the ramp wearing her ‘hijaab’. The 19 years old Muslim model, Halima Aden made her modeling debut on seventh day of New York Fashion week. Halima walked in front of reality star Kim Kardashian and Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour. Halima was born in a Kenyan refugee camp and now she’s an American citizen. She became the first woman to participate in Miss Minnesota beauty pageant, wearing her hijaab. Halima was wearing the latest Yeezy Season 5 collection. According to sources, Style bible Vogue stated that her appearance made her the ‘most talked about’ model who has presented Muslim women gracefully at the fashion week. Aden remarked that finding modesty is challenging but her experience has been positive. “My goal is to send a message to Muslim women and young women everywhere that it´s okay to break stereotypes and be yourself,” Halima stated.”I haven´t received any pressure to be anything other than myself and for that, I am so grateful,” she added. The Season 5 show saw West apparently bounce back from a reported mental breakdown as his family was still recuperating after Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in Paris in October. West has refused to broadcast his show live since in the last season, one of the model collapsed due to extreme heat. Guests at Kayne’s show were asked not to use phones, take videos or pictures. Yeezy’s clothing has been presented Manhattan´s Chelsea neighborhood along with the work of other designers. The style has been slightly different than his usual sportswear. Denim has taken over Yeezy’s catwalk for the first time ever, with high wasited jeans, jackets and shirts on the line. Leather and fur clothes are also a part of Yeezy’s collection this season.
