LOS ANGELES: Celeb Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s divorce was finalized on Friday. This divorce put a full stop to the domestic violence claims by Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s financial blackmail accusations. The papers filed in the County Superior Court on Friday focused on a splitting of marital assets. Depp agreed to pay a sum of $7 million to Heard, that she informed will be donated to charity. After 15 months of their marriage, Heard had filed for divorce and received a temporary restraining order against Depp. She reported that the Pirates of the Caribbean star was abusive throughout their marriage. Following an argument between them, he tossed a cell phone into her face and thrashed her apartment. Depp’s lawyer denied all claims of abuse and declared that Heard was “attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse.” “We are all pleased to put this unpleasant chapter behind,” claimed Laura Wasser, Depp’s lawyer. “Having his request for entry of the dissolution judgment granted today made it a particularly lucky Friday the 13th,” she added. Heard dismissed her request for a continued restraining order against Depp. Depp’s friend, Comedian Doug Stanhope wrote an article defaming her as an actress of blackmail but she dropped her lawsuit against him after the divorce settlement. According to the divorce papers, Depp will solely possess various real estate assets, varying from properties in Los Angeles, Paris and his private island in Bahamas. He is also allowed to keep more than 40 vehicles including vintage cars and motorcycles. Heard has the custody of her dogs Pistol and Boo, the two canines that she sneaked into the country in 2015 without proper paperwork/procedure. Heard reported that she would split her $7 million divorce settlement equally between the American Civil Liberties Union and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Court papers informed that Depp has paid $200,000 of the settlement so far, and will pay the rest over the course of the year. The payments will be made from Depp’s compensation from his upcoming film “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” and sale of some of his properties, the papers showed. Heard’s attorney, Pierce O’Donnell, hailed the finalization as a “great day” for his client, adding, “All Amber wanted was to be divorced and now she is.” Depp has not commented on this yet.
