ISLAMABAD: Morango Films launched the ‘Izhar by Film Fellowship’ to provide the youth with a platform to express social issues through filmmaking. The first film fellowship program, with UN Women’s support, aims at creating awareness on the social and political rights of women. It is open for applicants – aged 18 and older – from all over Pakistan who are interested in raising their voice through visual media. ‘Izhar by Film Fellowship’ will start accepting applications on 13th December, 2016 for its first round. The program intends to encourage participants to create awareness regarding social issues, and to voice solutions that promote the spirit of responsible citizenship. Four areas will be focused on to achieve this objective: 1) Harassment-free workplaces/educational institutes 2) Women’s access to safe public spaces 3) Internet safety for women 4) Women’s political rights Top 60 applicants will be chosen for the training course. Applicants will then be trained in filmmaking following which they will submit their films. Along with this, the public will make a call for entries for film submissions. Best 3 participants will be awarded.
