LAHORE: Nestled near the sisterly lane of the modern “food street” (MM Alam) on Mian Mahmood Kasuri Road, Tierra Nuestra is the latest eatery in town that has gotten Lahoris raving about. Owned in part by Ahmed Zubair Butt, who is a young, Lahore-based enterprising entrepreneur, Tierra Nuestra has a brief yet delectable menu of Pan-Asian cuisine. It’s a three-storied building with an elaborate cement and concrete exterior, that doesn’t involve flashy lights and signboards. “The ground floor is fine-dining, the first floor is the café and the second one is a boutique hotel which has nine rooms,” Ahmad Zubair Butt said proudly, while talking exclusively to Daily Times. Tierra Nuestra, meaning ‘Our Earth’, is a tall, looming building with a wide stunning interior done by Architects Inc. STRENGTHS Tierra Nuestra stays true to what it’s called. It’s exterior has earthy tones with fountains and pebbles right outside the entrance door. It exudes a refreshing feel that engulfs you immediately. Once inside, the lavish settees, the drop lanterns, and the chic furniture speaks volumes of the brains behind putting the interior together. You are attended to and served immediately. Trust us, there is a dearth with this privilege in many restaurants and cafes throughout the city. No matter how many times you change your mind about your meal of choice, the attendant responds positively and you do not get sized from head to toe. The food, which obviously is the main component, is fresh, rich in taste and flavourful. That also includes the drinks, where Pina Colada was the restaurant’s most refreshing drink and it felt almost as if there indeed was no space for dessert. We ordered their Prawn Tempura for appetiser, and the Tierra Nuestra Vietnamese Fish for our main course, which was served with garlic rice as side. We would really want to go back and have the Vietnamese fish all over again, as it was soft, fulfilled our taste buds and the sauce with which it was served was immaculately prepared. Of course, there are other dishes like the Thai Chicken Cashewnut, Guangzhou Beef, Fish Chilli Dry and Miso Chicken. For appetisers, they have spring rolls, Chicken Tempura, Chicken Dumpling, wings and Finger Fish. Tierra Nuestra is an ambitious project and is nowhere near the possibility of fizzling out, like so many others have. Their newly-introduced iftar menu is now on our bucket list of trying out with some amazing new varieties added to it, since the last we went. WEAKNESSES We would like to see more varieties in their drinks menu. Team Tierra Nuestra has now added desserts to its menu, which were not seen at the opening. We can’t wait to try those out.
