KARACHI: Luxury prêt and couture designer Mina Hasan’s spring/summer 2017 lawn collection was shot in its entirety in the Hungarian capital of Budapest. Simple, unique and intricate, this embroidered lawn collection stands out for its signature Mina Hasan touch of catering to modern women with bold cuts and trendy add ons. The collection has a diverse colour palette of bright pinks, subtle greens, bold blue shades and off whites. But what stands out the most is the beautiful and intricate detailing the embroidery brings with it. We like how the designer does not overdo the lawn with floral embroidery, neither makes a case for a hardly-there embroidery — it’s just appropriate, colourful and stunning! You can complete the look with tassels and pearls, with organza borders for pants and trousers. The collection aims for a something-for-everyone approach. For ladies, big on heavy embroideries, we spot a black lawn print with a lot of detailing on the front. There is another with a strong case for embroidery on its neckline and all the way down to the border. Of course, there are many more from where these have come from. We visited the opulent and the lavish Mina Hasan studio in Karachi on Zamzama, where Alisha Hashmi from Team Mina Hasan stated how they were taking orders only. The studio housed the embroidered 2017 lawn collection, semi formals as well as couture items. “Our lawn this year is absolutely fantastic. It is versatile and summery with a wide range of architectural and floral motifs, chic styling and a varied colour palette. We hope women enjoy wearing it as much as we enjoyed making it. We have chosen to go with more basic prints and lift those with vibrant embroideries and digitally-printed silk duppatas. Each pattern is hand-drawn with custom motifs to stand out from the rest,” Mina Hasan said while talking exclusively to Daily Times. The collection that launched nationwide on Monday had all 10 of its designs already sold out. There are a total of 10 designs in the collection in two-colour ways. We have already picked our favourites from the catalogue, have you?
