A few months ago, the streets of Karachi saw a local rescue a homeless man from sheer negligence of the society. “I took him out for lunch and heard his story. He was an educated man and very well spoken to be honest. Totally caught me by surprise,” the local said, while talking exclusively to Daily Times. That local was no regular but the renowned actor and anchor Ahsan Khan who after making waves in the TV and film industry, has marched on towards making the society a better place. We think his serendipity with the old man actually altered his goals and aspirations in life. Social media took this act of kindness to a whole new level. Ahsan Khan’s video and stills from this reached the skies. “Other than helping out that old man, I’m bringing the first Wall Of Kindness to Karachi. I was in Lahore for some transmissions and decided on hosting iftaris for the needy and the homeless. That venture was without a doubt, very successful and loads of people from the streets turned up. I just thought Lahore needs these random acts of kindness as well. There’s so much poverty and hunger. I teamed up with this community welfare group called Rizq to host these iftaris in Lahore. Two of these iftaris were at the Lahore Railway Station and one was at Firdaus Market. There were around 1,200 to 1,500 people,” Khan explained. Currently, the anchor cum philanthropist is working on a new film called ‘Chupan Chupai’, which is in its post-production phase right now. Other than this, he has signed two more films as well. One of these has been helmed and directed by a Pakistani filmmaker but is shot entirely abroad. Other than these exciting new films that Khan will be a part of, he’s also starring in the Hum TV play ‘Saya Deewar’. It’s a Momina Duraid production. It stars Naveen Waqar and Jamal Shah. He’s doing another TV serial for Syed Faisal Bukhari these days. It’s being shot in Lahore. Khan seems to have taken a break from hosting morning and Ramadan shows. “I did host one Ramadan show on PTV, as I thought that was the only decent platform where I could host. I really don’t want to be a part of cheap, random and typical shows,” Khan maintains. Khan is also doing his own home production project. He’s recently finished working on a short film with Sakina Samo. Khan is not all that boring and formidable if you go by his activities. He’s a fun loving, cool guy with a zest for adventure, travel and glamour. He is a terrific dancer and we love watching him perform on award shows with such energy and enthusiasm. “The standard of our award shows has increased drastically over the past few years. The management, the organisers, the sponsors and the hosts work day and night to make it possible for all. Not just award shows, but the quality of TV plays and serials is getting better and better,” Khan adds.
