KARACHI: The second day of the QMobile Hum Bridal Couture Week 2017 was held in the city on Saturday at a local hotel. Gold was the dominant colour in nearly all seven collections which were showcased during the night. Ayesha & Usman Qamar Ayesha & Usman Qamar were up next with a very trendy as well as wearable and a marketable collection. Grey, green and peach were the colours dominant throughout the collection with a lot of floral embroidery and appliqué. Palazzo pants, short shirts, raw silk gowns, embroidered jackets, organza separates and silk pants were the key highlights of the collection. Sunita Marshall showstopped for the dynamic duo wearing a bluish grey angrakha. Amina Yasmin by Mansoor Akram Amina Yasmin by Mansoor Akram opened Day 2 with a collection set in black and gold with prominent embellishments. Saris, straight shirts with lehnga, duppatas with flashy stonework, straight pyjamas and long kamiz for men, with minimal embroidery highlighted the collection. Velvet collars will set trends. Neelam Munir showstopped for Mansoor Akram’s collection, wearing a gold net and chiffon lehnga choli. Jia Ali was also one of the showstoppers of the night, wearing a black and gold outfit. Fahad Hussayn Fahad Hussayn opened Act 2 with his collection titled Dara Shikoh & Sunehri Churrail. The designer kept the lehnga and duppata game strong with elaborate florals and vibrant colour tones. Hussayn stole the show! The Lahore-based designer truly forth a collection, that was capsule, but distinct and memorable. Parrot green choli paired with pink stole, and white sharara was a standout outfit. The remaining were exquisite works of art with a white and beige sharara and shirt looking breathtaking. Mehwish Hayat and Azfar Hussain showstopped for the designer. Mehwish Hayat’s gold bridal had the audience spellbound. Ahmad Sultan QMobile Star Ahmad Sultan was up next with his collection, that had peach undertones, subtle colours, and intricate embroidery. Gold belts are back in vogue! There were mainly peplum tops with straight embellished trousers. Ahmad Sultan comes across as a remarkably talented designer. His metallic lehnga choli and turquoise gharara were stunning. Farshi ghararas also made a comeback to the ramp with Sultan’s collection. Sultan took a risk and used red and metallic contrasts. Hira and Mani showstopped for the designer. Faika Karim The third showcase was by Faika Karim. Green, gold, red, pink, rust and grey were the colours for the collection. Traditional lehnga choli, maxi gowns, knee-length A-line shirts with organza and raw silk trousers dominated the collection. Aiza Khan showstopped for the designer wearing a black and green heavily-embroidered lehnga choli. Umsha by Uzma Babar The final showcase for Act 1 was by Umsha by Uzma Babar. Actress Syra Shahroz showstopped for the designer wearing a red choli and an orange lehnga. The collection was set in traditional reds, golds, brown, and green mainly with lehnga choli, sharara and embroidered short jackets. Zhalay Sarhadi and Mansha Pasha also showstopped for the designer. The Classic Red The last segment of the night was The Classic Red featuring Ali Xeeshan, Adnan Pardesy, Elan, Farah Talib Aziz, Karma, Sania Maskatiya, Shamaeel Ansari, Tena Durrani, Maheen Ghani-Taseer, Mehdi, Misha Lakhani, Zaheer Abbas, Zara Shahjahan and Faraz Manan, where all these esteemed couturiers displayed their capsule collection pieces.
