Sir: In the recent years, many reports have pointed out the growing prevalence of drug abusers in Pakistan, especially among its youth. Despite the disastrous impact of drugs on the cognitive development of school-going children in such crucial years of their lives, no significant initiative has yet been launched in this regard. Both parents and educationists need to join hands if they wish to truly root out the menace from schools across Pakistan. I request the concerned authorities to collaborate with other relevant stakeholders to carve out an effective policy so that the architects of this country’s progress in the coming days can be protected from the clutches of drug addiction. The implementation of relevant reforms is critically needed to ensure the stability of Pakistan in the years to come, on both societal and economic fronts. FATIMA GHAFOOR Kech
