Sir: This is in reference to Altaf Hussain’s unacceptable anti-Pakistan remarks made in his speech addressing his party loyalists, where he incited them to violence and revolt. The Federal government is well aware that as a British national, he enjoys immunity from prosecution and punishment under the laws of Pakistan. The state has failed on numerous occasions to punish people who have sought political asylum, although they held Pakistani passport. If the state sovereignty and national interests are supreme, there is only one way this country can prevent such internal turmoil and interference from across our borders through individuals who run political parties while sitting safely in foreign countries. The government should ban any individual holding a foreign passport from heading any political party or group engaged in political activity. Efforts should be made at the state level to bring Altaf Hussain to Pakistan so that he could be tried under the law of Pakistan. ANEELA CHANDIO Sukkur
