Sir: There is very little gas, not even enough to be able to cook a meal for the family. The electricity load shedding multiplies as soon as the weather worsens, be it summer or winter. Petrol and diesel are extremely expensive. There is no way to even be able to afford fuel for a generator, for those who happen to have bought one by investing all their savings in it. There is no hot water for even a bath to keep us warm. The children and adults are all suffering from cold, flu and fever. When the weather will turn slightly warmer, then we will be afraid of Dengue. In the old days, we used to suffer because of load shedding in the heat of summer months. But at least we used to be able to keep warm in the winters. Now, our government has taken away the right to live from us, no matter what the month of the year is. We suffer endlessly throughout the year and it keeps getting worse every year. The prices of items of daily use keep soaring, while we keep getting buried deeper and deeper under debt. Women keep pushing their children into canals and committing suicide for lack of food to provide them with. Our leaders keep on professing how hard they are striving to build a better Pakistan for us in numerous speeches, while the middle class is going out of its mind trying to make ends meet and the poor are dying. How long does the government think this will continue? One day this nation will have to rise to fight for its rights and then there will be bloodshed and it will be just too late. AMNA KHAN Lahore
