Sir: Although a number of airlines are being operated in Pakistan, people are still compelled to pay higher airfares for inadequate services. Moreover, there is no uniformity in the prices of tickets throughout the week. For example, a ticket which is usually sold for eight thousand rupees on weekdays costs eighteen thousand rupees on Sundays. This senseless and irregular increase in airfares has made travelling by air difficult for a common man. Besides, flight delays and cancellation causes great inconvenience to the people. In these circumstances, PIA is the only national airline that can be a source of consolation. But unfortunately, it is soon going to become part of the airlines that are looting innocent Pakistanis. To save Pakistanis from further exploitation PIA should be over hauled rather than sold. Also, a regulatory authority should be setup to regulate the ticket prices of private companies. Strict action must be taken against those airlines which violate the set rules and exploit the public. SABA ASAD Karachi
