Sir: Pakistan is currently plagued by sheer unemployment. Rampant joblessness has compelled 60 million Pakistanis to live below the poverty line. Undoubtedly, unemployment is the mother of all social evils. This lingering issue has triggered off more serious problems such as street crimes, terrorism and suicide. In Pakistan, a large number of students graduates every year, but most of them dismally fail to acquire jobs inside the country. Therefore, many graduates end up joining terrorist and militant outfits. Moreover, after failing to get jobs, a large number of educated youth are compelled to leave the country, thus resulting in massive brain drain. It is high time effective measures are crafted and implemented to provide relevant jobs to the educated youth of the country. If the incumbent government exercises further reluctance, the country will face more economic issues in the near future. AYESHA ABDUL NASIR Karachi
