Sir: Despite many caveats, the democratically elected government of PML-N has completed its three years in office. There is no denying the fact that Pakistan of 2016 is to a great extent different from that of 2013, and all this has become possible due to the untiring and strenuous efforts of PML-N government. Apart from increasing the salaries of government employees and regularisation of services of the contractual staff, the PPP government failed to do anything worthwhile during its five years long rule. Moreover, the plight of people also increased with the persisting energy crisis as no mega project was launched to curb the menace of load-shedding. In contrast, the PML-N government has made remarkable gains in different spheres of life. During the last three years, the government has taken a number of initiatives to bring peace and prosperity to the country. Moreover, instead of adopting a policy of confrontation, the top leadership of PML-N tried hard to adopt a policy of conciliation and took all the stakeholders on board in the best national interest paving the way for democracy to strengthen. The development of the social and economic sector of the country is an ample proof of the government’s firm resolve to put the country on the right track. To address Pakistan’s energy woes, the government has initiated many projects to meet the energy demands of the country. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project with an estimated cost of $46 billion goes to the credit of PML-N government whose continuous efforts from dawn to dusk let this dream come true. With the aim to bring qualitative change in the lives of people, the government is bent upon paying particular attention to the needs of people and many steps have been taken in this regard to promote education and improve health care facilities in the country. Under the visionary leadership of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, the Government of Pakistan is endeavouring hard to make Pakistan a more peaceful and prosperous country and the Punjab government is equally playing an important role in it. It is hoped that the government will remain sincere in its efforts to make Pakistan a developed country and continuous efforts of the government will change the fate of people living in the country and prove to be a milestone. If the government’s dream of developed Pakistan materialises into reality, then that day is not so far when Pakistan will start making progress by leaps and bounds. SYED ALI QASIM Lahore
