Sir: Even though media has repeatedly talked about the prevalent rise of ghost pensioners, not much has yet been done in this regard. In addition to the departmental failure, the eligible pensioners are not being further inconvenienced through complex procedures. Although I have been receiving pension since 1987 largely because all certified relevant documents are available with the concerned departments, I was recently asked to switch over to the new complicated online system. I have also been asked to submit a Life Certificate twice every year. It is quite disheartening that instead of resolving its own issues, the concerned departments are making us pensioners pay for their mistakes. I appeal to the authorities to kindly consider continuation of Life Certificate signed by the concerned bank manager as was being done for decades while adopting strict departmental measures to obviate ghost pensioners.
