Sir: I want to congratulate the organizers of the 7th International Urdu Conference held in Karachi last week for its success. A country where violence and militancy has restrained people from talking about culture and language in the public space, the courage of the literary icons to gather and talk of literature is commendable. Intellectuals from around the world participated in the event and appreciated the venture. Such events help keep cultural values alive in a country struggling for its survival. Traditions and culture are the only way to retain a unique identification in the increasingly homogenous world. I felicitate the organisers for arranging this mega event at such a crucial time.
