Sir: FATA is being governed under the colonial system FCR for a long time. Most patriots and people of the region are still living in a miserable condition. Different governments since the inception of Pakistan are just paying lip services to the people of FATA. Pakistan’s constitution is not being applied there. There is no jurisdiction of high courts and Supreme Court of Pakistan. The region has been a buffer zone and undeveloped area due to lack of concentration of the state. Unfortunately, the current reforms for the tribal areas are still being delayed by the government. There are some politicians, who have politicised the issue of FATA reforms. The only solution is to merge FATA with KP, and three percent share be granted in the NFC award. The region has been highly affected due to waves of terrorism and extremism. The government should not play further games with the inhabitants of the region in the issue of FATA reforms. The current government should see back to the history of 1971. FATA should be merged sooner than later. The long-awaited reforms should not be delayedanymore. It is one of our major internal issues, which should not be politicisedanymore. If the government is serious to eliminate terrorism and extremism, they should bring reforms to FATA and the region must be merged with KP. ATTAUR RAHMAN TOORKHEL Bajaur Agency
