Sir: As it has been reported in the media that among all the South Asian countries, Pakistan has raced to the highest peak of 1,000 births with 57.48 deaths in 2016. The mortality crisis in Balochistan seems frustrating where it is as high as 785, whereas the neonatal mortality ratio stands at 63, and the mortality rate among children up to five years of age is 111. The main cause of high mortality rate among children and mothers is lack of trained healthcare providers. As a result, the mortality ratio is increasing rapidly. And the mothers’ deaths are common across the province. It is my humble request to the WHO to take action in this regards. ATIYA MOOSA Khairpur
