Sir: The gruesome murder of Mashal Khan in Abdul Wali Khan University highlights the absence of rule of law in Pakistan. This proves that there is might and right. Some broad-minded people were right to call this state of affairs as the ‘law of jungle’. It is a pity that the innocent people are being killed in the name false rhetoric. Equally important, our people, including the educated ones, consciously and unconsciously, are being driven by the call of extremists and fundamentalists. The Article 10-A of the Constitution grants the right to fair trial to every citizen of Pakistan. People should not take the law in their hands and leave the matter of blasphemy to the courts. The government and the law enforcement agencies must enforce the law in letter and spirit. ALLAHYAR KHAN KALWAR Karachi
