Sir: I would like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned to an important issue that has created a lot of trouble for the people living about three kilometers from Thokar Niaz Baig, Lahore. The road that leads to Raiwind is under construction again. The rebuilding of this road was started almost one and a half years ago and it has not been completed yet. It is difficult for the people to use the road as many accidents have been caused due to the carelessness of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) as they have not put any diversion signboards on the road. The other issue is that every day, new road barriers are placed on the one way, which cause many accidents. Due to the reconstruction of the road, the traffic is diverted to a single road that results in two opposite lanes and causes complete chaos for everyone. The other main problem is that there are no streetlights on the road that leads to Raiwind from Thokar. Generally, accidents occur at night. Bulldozers are placed in between the roads that cause accidents and traffic jams. I would like to suggest that the revamping of the roads again and again will not get the Authority anywhere but it may cause tension to the commuters. The LDA officials must visit this area so that they could become aware of the difficulties the road users are facing while travelling on this road. The concerned authorities must take notice of this issue. They must install some diversion signboards and place a few street lights on the road so it will be helpful for the people to travel without any difficulty. SHAFAQ KHALID RANA Lahore
