Sir: A few days ago, I watched a video on the Internet. In the video, a young boy sees someone throwing an empty water bottle on the road. The boy picks up the bottle and takes it home. He washes it, fills it with water and refrigerates it. In the next morning, he takes out the bottle, and gives it to an exhausted traffic police officer on his way to school. The officer becomes overwhelmed by this act of kindness and sincerely thanks the child. This video teaches us humanity and altruism. There is a saying, “It’s the little things that matter most.” We cannot even imagine what that bottle of water would have meant to that officer at that time. So we should learn a lesson from this story and try to do something that will give us inner satisfaction rather than materialistic rewards. MARIA M SHABBIR Karachi
