Sir: Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned and the general public towards the circumstances our home planet is facing today. We all know the composition of gases present in our atmosphere. Carbon dioxide, which was around 0.003 percent in our atmosphere till the early 1900s is increasing its percentage day by day. The sad part is that no one cares. Modern engineers are being taught again and again what could happen if this percentage kept on increasing but the fact is that those institutions that are giving these lectures do not think to practically implement them in front of their students. A reminder that if the percentage of carbon dioxide reaches 0.006 percent, i.e. six molecules of CO2 in 1,000 molecules of the air, the earth will become very much like Venus. We are already facing the issues of global warming and the non-availability of fresh water. What would happen then? Seeing people knowing about all these facts and still not doing anything about it reflects a very dark future for our planet. We can start of by simply using catalytic converters in our cars and scrubbers in our factories. Someone has to start it. If we do not start thinking about it, nature might get the better of us, sooner than we can imagine. Dinosaurs had an excuse: they did not see the meteor coming. What is our excuse?
