PESHAWAR: Sharbat Gula, the iconic Afghan girl, has been sent to jail on 14-day remand on Friday. Gula, who has been charged with having a fake Pakistani identity card, appeared before Judicial Magistrate Jamil Khan and pleaded not guilty. She said that the allegation of a fake identity card was not true. However, the court sent her to jail on 14-day remand. Last year, Gula was arrested on similar charges, but was later released. If convicted, Gula could be deported or jailed for up to 14 years.
