PESHAWAR: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Abbas Majeed Marwat on Thursday paid a visit to Matani Police Station and ordered the station house officers (SHOs) to stop harassing legal Afghan migrants. According to reports, the SSP paid a surprise visit to the Matani Police Station in Peshawar and inspected the office records, monitoring cameras and hygiene of the staff and the premises. Abbas Marwat advised the staff to register details of the both parties involved in the conflict while registering the case. He also acknowledged the role of muharrars and appreciated them with gifts. The SSP cautioned the officers that legal action would be taken against policemen who reported FIRs without computerised national identity cards (CNIC) and phone numbers of both the parties. Abbas Marwat added that the SSP office was providing specially designed forms for reporting all sorts of incidents. “In those forms, there is a space provided for entering the CNIC and mobile phone numbers of two or more parties that are involved in any dispute.” The SSP also ordered the SHOs to start a search and strike operation against proclaimed offenders, drug dealers, illegal Afghans, robbers and other criminals in their areas concerned.
