PESHAWAR: The capital city police on Thursday assured protection to the community of eunuchs in Peshawar. The eunuch community president, Farzana Jan, along with the Human Rights representative Qamar Naseem, apprised the Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Abbas Majeed Khan Marwat of problems being faced by the eunuch community. They said a person was still threatening their community of dire consequences after killing their member, Ali Shah, on Wednesday in the limits of Faqirabad Police Station in Peshawar. SSP Marwat informed them that two relatives of the person had already been rounded up while the efforts were on for the arrest of the accused. He assured that the police would make all possible efforts for the protection of their lives and properties from the elements bent upon harming them. It may be added here that the Human Rights representative Qamar Naseem had approached the UN against the ill-treatment being metted out to eunuchs in Peshawar and the UN directed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to take stern action against the elements involved in the threatening eunuchs in Peshawar.
