MANSEHRA: The National Highway Authority (NHA) on Wednesday reopened the Balakot-Naran section of Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad road to all kinds of traffic after four consecutive months. “Kaghan Road has been reopened to all sorts of traffic up to Naran after the NHA removed snow and landslides from the road,” Saith Matiullah, president of hoteliers association, Naran, told reporters. Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad (MNJ) Road had been blocked following heavy snowfall and landslide in Kaghan valley on January 2 of this year. The strategically important artery, which also links Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Gilgit-Baltistan, remained blocked from Kaghan onward and NHA started work on its reopening earlier this month. “The work to reopen the road is still in progress and tourists can now visit Naran,” he added. He said that with reopening of road tourism season also started in the valley.
