PESHAWAR: The Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that government will not sit idle unless all of the displaced families were resettled and politically streamlined. “Most of the dwellings and lively-hood of tribesman was destroyed due to the menace of terrorism and approximately 450,000 families were displaced from their native areas”, Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said while addressing a workshop on Saturday, arranged by Alumni Association on “Peace and Development in FATA and KP.” Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA)) Parliamentarians, Additional Chief Secretary and representative were also present on the occasion. The governor, who was the chief guest on the occasion, handed over a cheque to Temporarily Displaced People’s Secretariat on behalf of the alumni association. While addressing the workshop Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said, “FATA has undergone immense troubled times during the past one and half decade and suffered unprecedented displacement of population.” He said that time had come to recognize the sacrifices made by the tribesmen for the country. Governor mentioned that Rs.4.000 billion have been provided to the concern agencies of the belt for disbursements, while process of various surveys is underway for the evaluation of remaining damages in the region. More than 2500 public service delivery institutions were either partially or completely destroyed and around100, 000 houses were either damaged or completely destroyed during the crises he added. None of the damage home or institute in the FATA would bared from rehabilitation process and every individual of the region would equally benefited he added. The governor shared the ongoing situation in FATA and said that improvement gaining momentum with each passing with help of Pakistan Army and Security Forces agencies. The governor said, “With the blessings of Almighty Allah, approximately 350,000 families have returned to their native places.” “Remaining families are in the process of return and this phase will be completed by end of this year, Insha Allah,” the governor added. He claimed that an amount of Rs8 billion has been spent on rehabilitation of the damaged infrastructure and a speedy mechanism has been adopted for efficient and effective implementation of the reconstruction and rehabilitation projects.
