PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Parvaiz Khattak has directed the heads of various government institutions to chalk out a plan to convert their departments on solar power to meet energy demand. Presiding over a meeting at Chief Minister Secretariat, he directed Public Health Engineering, Irrigation, Health, Education, Industries and some other departments to chalk out solar conversion plan as per their use of energy and submit it along with recommendations for implementation, said a press release issued on Monday. During the meeting Chief Executive Digital World International Company of Saudi Arabia Nadal Taif gave a presentation to the Chief Minister on solar conversion plan. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Education and Energy Atif Khan, Advisor for Communication and Works Akbar Ayub and high officials of the ministries were also present on the occasion. He presented various recommendations for conversion of solar power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and also briefed the meeting about the benefits of solar power. The Chief Minister Parvaiz Khattak welcomed the suggestions of Saudia Company sand said that solar power is need of the hour to overcome the power shortfall besides providing uninterrupted electricity to consumers. He said the provincial government has already initiated various projects to overcome energy shortfall, adding that efforts are being made to get electricity from solar. The Chief Minister said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would take any decision about conversion on solar after reviewing the capacity.
