PESHAWAR: Aftab Ahmad Sherpao,Chairman, Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), recently expressed his grave concerns over the ongoing harassment of Pakhtuns at the hands of police and other law enforcement agencies. He, then, asked the concerned authorities to stop the practice. He said this while talking to different delegations of people, who had called on the QWP chief at Watan Kor, the party central secretariat, in Peshawar, on Saturday. Sherpao also urged the law enforcement agencies and police officials to take some concrete steps in this regard as the ongoing practices “had literally made the lives of Pukhtun citizens of the province miserable.” He also added that hundreds of Computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC) of Pukhtuns had also been blocked by National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). He urged NADRA to expedite the verification process of CNICs, being started by the interior ministry in the country. He also demanded the government to direct the police and other law enforcement agencies personnel to stop harassing civilians without CNICs.
