PESHAWAR: The RTS Commission with support of Governance and Policy Project (GPP-PCNA), a joint initiative of World Bank and Planning and Development Department, Government of KP, held a conference on the Citizen Integration Forum (CIF) at a private hotel on Wednesday, 22 March, 2017. Agenda of meeting was “Citizens Integration forum Grievances redressal system”. Vikram K. Chand, Senior Public Sector management Specialist, World Bank while addressing the conference said that RTI & RTS Act is the world class piece of Legislation done by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This will enable the people to better integrate with the Government departments and their problems and grievances will be easily tackled. He further added that the civil society, NGOs and other functionaries should be connected through different means of communication such as telephone helpline, Radio calls, social media and special mechanism should be adopted for the citizens residing in backward areas of the Province. Which may help solving the grievances of the citizens. He further emphasized that awareness must be carried out about the Right to information & Right to Public Services Commission through print and electronic media for the betterment of locals of society. Chief Commissioner RTI, Azmat Hanif Orakzai mentioned that the Right to Information law is implemented in more than hundred countries of the world and fortunately Pakistan is among them. Through RTI the public fear has been diminished and it has empowered the leadership in making better and brave decisions. He further elaborated that the print and electronic media must be utilized in awaking the public to know what their rights under RTI. Commissioner, Right to Public Services Commission (RTS), Shah Sahib highlighted the importance of RTS Law, 2014-15 /and mentioned the achievements and challenges faced by the organization. He further presented the list of 35 Upcoming Public Services which are going to be launched after the official Government notification. He further said that in every district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa there is a District Monitoring officer whose work is to monitor the data of sixteen services and they play a role of a watchdog. While emphasizing the efficiency of RTS Commission, he said that 85 percent of the received application/complaints have been redressed by the RTS. An interactive dialogue was followed at the end among the representatives of RTI Commission, RTS Commission, Ehteesab Commission, Health department, Peshawar High Court, Local Elected Representatives, Technocrats, members of Civil society, NGO’s, Area Elders, Senior Citizens and Media Persons.
