PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court on Wednesday ordered University of Peshawar to regularise services of eight assistant professors who have completed PhDs from abroad and were working on an ad hoc basis for many years. A division bench comprised of Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth and Justice Qaiser Rasheed issued the order of regulaisation while hearing a writ petition filed by Shumaila Noreen and others through their counsels Ijaz Anwar and Zartaj Anwar. Petitioners’ counsel argued that the petitioners had completed their PhD from abroad on Higher Education Commission scholarships. They said that the petitioners’ returned in 2013-14 and were appointed at the university but later the university administration regularised services of others while ignoring the petitioners, keeping them working on a contractual basis.
