MANSEHRA: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members of the provincial assembly on Saturday supported the tehsil council resolution, seeking status of a district for Oghi tehsil. MPA Wajiuz Zaman Khan and political adviser to chief minister Zargul Khan announced to raise their voice in the power corridors to get the status of a district for Oghi. Zargul, who received a warm welcome upon his arrival in Oghi for the first time after being elected an MPA, addressed the tehsil bar council. “I would rather say that I second the tehsil council’s resolution, and if our people remain united on this issue, we would achieve our aim,” said Zargul. He said that Oghi should have gotten the status of a district almost five years ago when the previous government of Awami National Party gave Torghar area the status of a settled district. The chief minister’s adviser said that Oghi was a central place, as it shared boundaries with Torghar and Battagram districts. “Oghi had hosted offices of Torghar when it was a tribal belt of Mansehra district, and now most of businesses and other activities of the people of Torghar are still through Oghi,” said Zargul. Wajiuz Zaman said that he would meet Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and convince him to change the status to Oghi to that of a district.
