PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Parvaiz Khattak has directed to establish an organised setup for promotion of sports culture in the province and asked to conduct talent hunt and holding intra and inter Tehsil and District competitions that would provide a base for the sports culture in the province. He was presiding over a meeting of the Board of Directors of Malik Saad Sports Trust here at Chief Minister Secretariat Peshawar. Chief Secretary Abid Saeed, IGP Nasir Khan Durrani, Amjad Aziz Malik and others attended. The meeting was briefed about the overall achievements of the trust, expenditure and earning, holding of different sports events and other activities of the trust. The chief minister said his government had given a base for the future structure of the sports in the province. The government would sponsor the sportsmen who had demonstrated skills in the sports. The government would also pay the fee of position holders in different events of sports, he added. He agreed to conduct the next sports Gala at Muhmand Agency if the improved law and order situation continued in the tribal area. He also agreed to women T-20 tourney in Peshawar besides handing over Hayatabad Sports Complex to the management committee on trial basis. He also awarded cash prizes to the organizers and sportsmen including Sahibzada Haleem, Hamza Raheem, Uzair Khan and Taimour Ayaz. KP Chief Minister Khattak also appreciated the performance of board of directors saying that the government was constructing more than 100 sports grounds at Tehsil and School level while 50 had been completed and the rest were about to be completed. He directed the completion of management committees and assured that the government would pay salaries and other basic expenditures and the grounds should be managed on professional lines. He also directed for a proposal to give grant to the trust. He said his government was working to conduct sports events at local level. There would be intra Tehsil and district competitions which would be a true talent hunt that would spot talented sportsmen who would earn good name for the province in sports. He reminded that the management had the future of the country in their hands therefore they needed to be dedicated to their all-time hard tasks. There was total suffocation in the past and the youth suffered in the process. His government wanted to give them an appropriate environment where they could improve physically and mentally, he maintained.
