PESHAWAR: Dr Hameed Ullah of Department of Chemistry, Hazara University, Mansehra, has recently hit headlines as an emerging scientist from South Waziristan, to have won the Pakistan-France Joint research project under PERIDOT, which was jointly offered by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Ministry of Higher Education, France. A statement issued by the Hazara University noted that Dr Hameed and Dr Pierre Bonnet of the Institute of Chemistry Clermont-Ferrand, France have submitted a joint project simultaneously in both Pakistan and France, under the program “Pak-France joint research program (PERIDOT) 2016”. Dr Hameed is actively involved in research and academic activities, and has also previously won many projects in the field. His research largely focuses upon the development of nonmaterials for applications in devices, used for harvesting renewable energies—solar—,as well as energy storage—rechargeable batteries. “Dr Hameed has been recently awarded a research productivity award by the Pakistan Council for Science and Technology (Ministry of Science and Technology), government of Pakistan,” the statement added.
