PESHAWAR: FATA Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sardar Khan accused the federal government of failing to abide by its promise of internally displaced peoples’ (IDPs) rehabilitation and facilitation. The Markaz-i-Islami on Monday issued a statement that the federal government and its representative for the tribal belt, the governor were taking no pragmatic steps to rehabilitate and facilitate those tribesmen suffering as IDPs. Hundreds and thousands of people including women and children of the North Waziristan, Orakzai and Kurram Agency were living a life of misery and starvation due to the federal government’s ignorance to its promise of help and assistance for IDPs the statement read. Tribal belt Ameer claimed that those IDPs who went back to their native areas during the last one year are facing a sever situation and enormous difficulties regarding their health and education at high risk. He said that the federal government has no plan to provide relief to IDP returnees. We demand that the federal government take immediate steps for the facilitation and rehabilitation of the IDPs return to their native areas he added. Published in Daily Times, June 20th, 2017.
