TIMERGARA: The Lower Dir Sports Department on Monday announced starting of under-23 games trials in the district from Feb, 22. Talking to local journalists here the district sports’ officer Haji Bahadar Syed said that volleyball, badminton and hockey trials for men would be held on February 22 while for basketball, table tennis, tug of war and gymnastics would be held on February 23 at Malik Muzafar Khan stadium Ouch, Samar Bagh sports’ stadium and Timergara rest house ground. He said that trials for karate would be held at the ground of University of Malakand. The sports’ officer said that cricket, football, hockey, basketball, squash and badminton for women would be held on Feb, 22 and trials for volleyball, table tennis, athletics, baseball, karate, handball and tug of war trials would be held on February 25. He said the trials for women would also be held on grounds mentioned already at different times. The sports officer asked all aspirants to reach the venue well on time. Meanwhile the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa elementary education reforms unit advisor Suhail Raza along with assistant Usama and data collector Ms Hina Khan on Monday visited the offices of DEO male and female here at Timergara. The visiting officials checked record of both the offices. The DEO male Hafiz Muhammad Ibrahim and DEO female Nusrat Begum briefed them about the overall progress of the elementary and secondary education department. Talking to media persons Mr Suhail Raza said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government firmly believed in reward and punishment system in education department. He said the presence of teaching and non teaching staff, literacy ration and standard of education had been improved in the province due to initiatives introduced by the present government. The advisor was informed that deduction was made from 47 teachers in the month of December in Lower Dir. According to the DEO male the amount was deposited in the treasury through challan.
