HANGU: The Orakzai tribes people fear the transparency of census in Orakzai Agency saying it would not be possible due to the displacement of hundreds of families from their native homes. A jirga of the tribal elders, including Malik Qasim Gul, Malik Fazal Muhammad, Malik Khan Gul and others said that tribespeople hailing from upper parts of Orakzai Agency had not returned to their homes. They said that the government had returned displaced families to the upper parts, who left their homes again, due to lack of basic facilities in their hometowns. The tribal elders said that the population of Orakzai Agency was more than 250,000 in the census conducted in 1998, adding that the population had exceeded 600,000 now. The tribal elders said that census points should be established for the Orakzai tribes in Hangu, Kohat and Peshawar or the census should be postponed till they returned to their native areas. They said that most of the areas of the lower and central Orakzai Agency were still not cleared and the tribespeople were living in other parts of the country.
